|Birth on Giriraj Mountain| (Govardhan)


 Introduction –

 The most exalted Lord Shri Krishna who is the lord of innumerable brahmins, the lord of the earth and is capable of doing everything - Shri Krishna said to his beloved Radha –“ How will you live without me, you also come. Radha said- If there were no Vrindavan Mountain, Yamuna River and Govardhan Mountain, My mind will not find happiness." Hearing this, Krishna sent included a vast land of eighty-four kos which included eighty-four forests, Govardhan mountain and Yamuna river

 from his home to the earth.

Birth of Govardhan- Govardhan was born from the womb of Dronachal's wife in Shamlideep in the west of India On the birth of Govardhan, all the mountains like Himalayas and Sumeru performed Govardhan puja and circumambulated, the gods showered flowers.

Only after the praise of all the mountains, Govardhan came to be called "Giriraj".
One day the great sage Pulasya came to earth on a pilgrimage and saw Govardhan, the son of Dronachal.  

Beauty of Girriraj-

That mountain was surrounded by various types of springs and fruits. The gurgling sound of the waterfalls was echoing. There was great peace


on that mountain. That place surrounded by trees and creepers was suitable for the greatest penance. Its land was high and low. There were many birds of nature. Peacocks and monkeys etc. animals were found all around. The sounds of peacocks were supposed to give salvation.

It is     mentioned in Bhagwat-Gita.   King Ugrasen reigned in Mathura in Dwapara era.  The people were very happy. There was an atmosphere of happiness all around. Kansa was the son of king Ugrasen.
